Install RigPlane Pro.
You downloaded a RigPlane Pro build from the downloads page — this checklist takes you from the installer file to a connected radio. It only describes steps the app and this site already document today.
Before you download
Platform availability moves with each beta cut. The tiles at the top of the downloads page show exactly which platforms the latest release covers, and the release manifest the page reads lists every published release with its files, sizes, and SHA-256 hashes.
Each release announcement on the blog lists the known limitations for that cut — read the newest one before you install.
Install steps
- Download the build for your platform from the downloads page. If a tile shows “Coming soon”, that OS is not in the latest release; the full release list below the tiles shows what earlier releases covered.
- Verify the SHA-256 hash with the shield button next to the file. Compare the published hash to the file you downloaded — any mismatch means do not run the binary. The dialog shows the checksum command and links the raw
.sha256file for cross-checking. - Install the app from the file you downloaded. Upgrading from an earlier beta? Install the new build over the existing version — the beta.2 announcement confirms saved radios and passwords are kept.
- Sign in on first run. The app asks you to sign in or join the open beta. Use the same RigPlane account email in the app and on the open beta signup so beta access, support, and future purchases stay connected.
- Add your radio with Add radio: pick the model, enter the connection details, and Pro asks for anything missing (such as a radio password) before starting the radio service. Switch radios or edit details later with Switch Radio → Edit.
If Pro shows that it is connected but the radio does not respond, check the saved model and connection settings, including the selected port — a wrong port or model can still produce a connected state without a working radio.
Known limitations
These are the limitations listed in the beta.2 announcement (published 2026-09-30). Newer announcements supersede them, and each release’s notes on the downloads page list what changed.
- Platform availability: beta.2 ships for macOS on Apple Silicon and Windows; there is no Linux build in beta.2. Later releases may differ — the downloads page shows the current coverage.
- Windows: the RigPlane virtual audio cable is installed, repaired, and removed from inside Pro and requires Windows 11 version 22H2 or later. Windows SmartScreen may show a low-reputation warning while the signing certificate builds reputation.
- Radios: stopping Pro or switching to another radio can turn off the antenna tuner (ATU) on Icom radios and the Yaesu FTX-1 — turn it back on at the radio. The announcement says a fix is planned for the next beta.
RigPlane Pro and RigPlane Core
RigPlane Pro is the packaged desktop app you install and operate. RigPlane Core is the open-source engine beneath it: an MIT-licensed Python library and browser-based Web UI, published on PyPI as the rigplane package and installed with pip — there you manage Python, audio routing, and config files yourself.
Core documentation — installation, quickstart, and per-radio setup — lives on rigplane.dev. With RigPlane Pro you install the app, not a Python environment.
